Novel Conversations
"The Wednesday Wars" by Gary D. Schmidt
Thursday, May 21
6:00pm - 7:00pm
Coralville Public Library
Board RoomNovel Conversations is a book group that alternates between classic novels and more recent works of fiction and nonfiction. In May we are discussing "The Wednesday Wars" by Gary D. Schmidt.
On Wednesday afternoons, when all his classmates go to Hebrew school or Catechism, Holling stays in Mrs. Baker’s classroom where they read Shakespeare. As Holling navigates the world of bullies, girls, and parents, he gains confidence by standing up for himself with the help of the Bard’s inventive cursing.
Participants are welcome to come to all the meetings or just those that sound interesting. Multiple copies of each book are available for checkout in the library and are, whenever possible, made available in large print, audiobook, and ebook editions.
Novel Conversations meets on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Board Room.
